Q1Is the $1 refundable?
No. It reserves your place in the formation process and is non-refundable, including if your area takes a long time to reach two teams. We tell you this before you pay.
Q2Does paying mean I'll get a game?
Not immediately. Your area activates only when it can support two full teams on a shared evening within everyone's travel distance. Your dashboard shows how close it is. Select more areas and more evenings to speed it up.
Q3How long until my first game?
It depends entirely on how many people near you have signed up. Areas that reach roughly two teams of 15 typically have a field and a schedule within a couple of weeks after that, because the outreach to venues starts automatically.
Q4What does membership cost?
Amateur is $35 a month and Competitive is $68 a month, and neither is charged until after your first completed game. The $1 queue fee is separate and not credited toward it.
Q5What format and how long?
11v11, one game a week per team, kickoff at 17:30 or 18:00. Plan on roughly an hour and a half at the field including warm-up. Later kickoffs only happen at fields with verified lighting.
Q6Do you keep score?
During the game, any confirmed player can kick off in the app and record goals as they happen — who scored and who assisted. The live score becomes the result the captain submits. We keep each player's goals and assists, but there are no league tables: teams change every cycle.
Q7What do I wear?
There are no uniforms. For every game one side wears white (any light shirt) and the other wears dark, and it swaps from game to game so each team wears white half the time. Your game card and the reminder tell you which. Keep one of each in the car.
Q8I have never played. Can I join?
Yes. Rate yourself honestly and choose Amateur. Balancing spreads skill across both teams, and a mixed-ability game is the normal case, not the exception.
Q9I play at a high level. Will it be too casual?
Choose Competitive. When an area has enough competitive players we form a separate division; until then you may be in mixed games. Please don't rate yourself down to seem modest — it breaks the balance.
Q10What happens if I have to miss a game?
Mark yourself "Not playing" as early as you can. Your spot is offered to eligible substitutes automatically. Cancelling inside 24 hours is recorded as a late cancel; not answering and not showing is a no-show. Both lower your priority for extra games.
Q11How are substitutes chosen?
From players in the area who are available at that time, in a fair order: fewest extra games first, then people who respond quickly, closer players, and those who said they want extra games. First to accept gets the spot.
Q12Who is the game captain?
A volunteer from the confirmed players. If nobody volunteers, an eligible attendee is chosen at random, weighted so people who have captained before are less likely to be picked again. You can opt out of ever being assigned.
Q13Are there referees?
No. Games are self-officiated. The captain organises but doesn't officiate. Read the community rules.
Q14Why do teams change every 4 games?
Fixed teams drift out of balance as people come and go, and a rotating format means you meet everyone in your area. Rotation spreads last cycle's teammates across the new teams and re-balances skill and positions.
Q15Can I play more than one game a week?
Yes — walk in. Any game near you shows on your Games page; sign up as a walk-in (up to four per side), bring both a white and a dark shirt, and when you check in on the app you are placed on whichever side needs you — absentees' places first, then the extra spots. No waiting for an invitation.
Q16How does check-in work?
From 90 minutes before kickoff, tap "I'm here" on the game. The captain sees the live attendance for both sides and can correct it. Whoever is checked in is who played; confirmed players who never checked in are recorded as no-shows.
Q17Can I play with a friend?
Not guaranteed. Balance comes first. Friends in the same area will play with and against each other over the season.
Q18Can I avoid playing with someone?
Block them in the app. Blocked players are never placed on your team, and neither of you can message the other.
Q19What if it rains?
Weather risk is checked before games. If postponement is recommended, an administrator makes the call and everyone is notified in the app and by email.
Q20Who sees my phone number?
Nobody but us. Other players see your first name and last initial. Phone numbers and emails typed into messages are removed automatically.
Q21How do I delete my account?
From your profile: download your data or delete your account. Deletion removes your personal information and keeps only anonymised game history so other people's records stay consistent.
